Aligning Scientific Preservation with Enterprise Innovation

The partnership between Collab4Good and the Business for Good Network is rooted in a deep shared understanding that systemic change requires genuine collaboration. Founded in South Australia in 2018, Collab4Good was established to bring people together to learn, connect, collaborate and lead for good, underpinned by their core values of collaboration, decolonisation, inclusivity and stewardship.

Their vision is for a just economy, based on participation, equity, access, rights and responsibilities for all.

They recognise that the journey of a social entrepreneur can often feel isolating without a robust support system. Through deep relationship building, Collab4Good has enabled a dedicated and connected community that ensures that purpose-led founders are equipped with the networks, opportunities and knowledge needed to thrive in this exciting and still emerging sector in South Australia.

Their ethos perfectly aligns with our mission at the Business for Good Network. We see them as strong and passionate collaborators who really understand the complexities of the social enterprise landscape.

As one community member aptly noted, "If you are a purpose-led person willing to or already making an impact in SA, and you hadn't heard of C4G before, make sure to reach out to them... you won't regret it!" This shared vision is about transforming isolated efforts into a unified movement for sustainable change.

The Power of Strategic Investment

Collab4Good demonstrates the profound impact of targeted capacity building and collaboration through initiatives like the Circular Impact Accelerator. Delivered in partnership with Green Industries SA, and supported by the Business for Good Network, StartSomeGood and Rawtec, this annual intensive six-week program offers a powerful circular economy social enterprise design course that supports teams with purpose-first business concepts that facilitate the transition to a circular economy.

This Accelerator Program has been funded by Green Industries SA every year for the last five years as a key strategic activity contributing to outcomes in South Australia’s circular economy strategy 2025–2030.

Participation in the Circular Impact Accelerator is completely free for participants, thanks to the generous support and strategic investment by Green Industries SA.

Under the guidance of Impact Director Arianna Watson and Amy Orange, Co-Founder and Managing Director, the program offers participants in-person workshops, practical tools, deep industry expert insights, co-working sessions, resources and weekly 1-1 coaching support with experienced social entrepreneurs to test, validate and refine their circular economy concepts. The Program culminates in a pitch night event in which teams pitch in front of a live audience of nearly 100 people for a share in up to $20,000 of business development funding from Green Industries SA.

Collab4Good invests heavily in the foundational success of these early-stage ventures, with graduates joining a growing alumni of nearly 70 circular economy entrepreneurs who continue to grow, collaborate together in a number of different ways, and cheer each other on in the quest towards a circular economy in South Australia.

This strategic investment by Green Industries, Collab4Good and all the program partners removes financial barriers, allowing innovators to focus entirely on developing sustainable business models.

This hands-on approach ensures that each participant leaves with a robust strategy for market entry and long-term sustainability with circular impact. It is a prime example of how targeted strategic support can accelerate the transition towards a truly circular economy.

Driving Systemic Impact

Beyond supporting circular economy entrepreneurs, Collab4Good is actively shaping the broader economic infrastructure of South Australia through the Business for Good program. Delivered in partnership with the South Australian Social Enterprise Council (SASEC).

This initiative supports small social enterprises with key business fundamentals to strengthen their knowledge, capacity and capability to deliver social, environmental and economic outcomes for SA with long-term business sustainability and growth.

Impact Director Arianna Watson manages this statewide program alongside SASEC’s Angela Alvarez, bringing her extensive relationships and expertise in impact strategy and facilitation to the forefront to enable access to high-quality structured capacity building opportunities including group workshops, 1-1 coaching and group mentoring. Delivered in collaboration with Collab4Good’s extensive network of 50+ talented associates, the Business for Good program covers all areas of foundational knowledge for SA small social enterprises, all delivered with the unique impact lens that has become increasingly important to business owners across the State.

The impact of this program extends far beyond the immediate participants, of which there have been over 300 since 2023, as it helps to establish a benchmark for social and environmental best practice across all industries and sectors to make life better for people and planet.

It is this focus on foundational resilience that makes their work so vital to the region. By equipping founders with these essential skills, Collab4Good ensures that the local impact sector remains capable of addressing complex societal challenges over the long term.

The Business for Good program is also another example of strategic investment; the program is an initiative of the Government of South Australia’s Office for Small and Family Business and the South Australian Small Business Strategy 2023 – 2030.

Collaborating for the Future

The strength of Collab4Good lies in their unwavering commitment to relationships, community engagement and cross-sector collaboration.

They understand that solving complex social issues requires diverse perspectives and shared resources, and they don’t shy away from complexity and challenging conversations. Collaboration is in their DNA and in their values along with decolonisation, inclusivity and stewardship.

All of Collab4Good’s initiatives are specifically designed to support not only emerging and established social enterprises but also First Nations owned businesses, certified B Corps, and traditional small businesses looking to embed social and environmental impact into their operations. By bringing these diverse groups together, Collab4Good creates a rich environment for peer-to-peer learning and connection.

Founders can share their struggles, exchange innovative ideas, identify opportunities to collaborate, and help each other navigate the unique challenges of running a business for good. This inclusive approach breaks down traditional silos and encourages a more holistic view of business development.

Ultimately, it proves that when we work together, we can achieve far greater outcomes than any single organisation could manage alone.

This collaborative framework empowers those on the front lines of social change, ensuring they have the collective strength and unified voice required to advocate for a just economy in South Australia.

A Legacy of Purpose

As we look toward the future of the Australian impact economy, Collab4Good stands out as a vital catalyst for regional innovation and social equity.

Their legacy is being built every day through the sustainable businesses they help launch, the resilient leaders they nurture, and the collaborative practice they role-model.

By consistently bridging the gap between bold ideas and commercial reality, they prove that business can indeed be a powerful force for good.

Their advice to emerging changemakers is clear: ground your passion in strong business fundamentals and never underestimate the power of your community. For anyone looking to use business to create positive social and environmental outcomes, Collab4Good provides the ideal launchpad and ongoing support network.

We are incredibly proud to partner with such a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation. Their work serves as an inspiring model for other regions looking to cultivate their own purpose-led economies.

Their ongoing dedication ensures that South Australia remains at the forefront of the social enterprise movement. The legacy they are crafting will ultimately be defined by a thriving ecosystem where purpose and profit coexist naturally, creating lasting benefits for generations to come.
